Let me first make clear what I am about to
blog is taken from an online blog by Sharon Richardson who is like me not a
recognised developer. So she gets all
the credit for this.
But my reason for highlighting her blog is
that even now it is a quick win and easy to implement solution to a limitation
with the SharePoint people search. It is
very difficult to do wild card searches on people so I have taken Sharon’s
blog, made some improvements and added this to a SharePoint site.
Called Staff Directory this is a simple web
part that can be placed anywhere in SharePoint (even a home page) and then
allows a simple and easy people search with results appearing in a standard
people search page.
If you’re interested in using this then the
updated JavaScript can be found at the below link and may need some simple
changes to point to your search centre pages.
