Inline Editing of lists and libraries

One of the nice new cool features in SharePoint 2010 is inline editing in a document library or list.  I stumbled across this the other day and found it to be extremely useful.  So a quick note on how to turn it on and how it works.
Basically it’s a setting configured in the view and by default is off.  So edit your view and after the filter option you will see the inline editing tick box.
So what does this do?  It’s great as it means you can edit the metadata properties or list item properties from within the view.  So for example creating a list of agenda items which may be edited before the agenda is fixed we can allow editing without having to open the item.  This is done using the small editing icon which appears by the tabular button.

Clicking this we now see the ability to edit fields, save the changes or use the cancel button to exit.

I think this is great as it allows data to be easily managed and in my opinion is more likely to be used in lists.  Users like less clicks and when items are being edited often this is the kind of option that people like.
